Complete Guide for Immigration from India

Complete Guide for IELTS and Immigration to Canada : In Progress

Hello! Welcome to my blog spot.

Have you reached your middle age and clueless with your career and life?
Procrastinating your ideas with all those shouting in your head, and millions of phone calls you received from the consultancies asking for Canada/Australia/New Zealand??

Hold hands with me, lets travel together.

My work is in progress !!!!

About me :

Software Engineer in Bangalore
Age : 32 , Married
Experience : 8.5 years in multiple body shopping service companies.
Completed : Bachelors in Engineering
Working in a Data Analytics company.
Stopped working on PLSQL and started looking for range of other jobs and joined a Data Analytics company.(Though this was an event happened before the quest for Immigration)
Current Technologies : Data warehouse(RedShift) and related products.

Current status:

Joined a IELTS Coaching center near Bangalore,Indira Nagar on 1st December. Planned to give my exams on Feb 1st.

WES ECA in progress. Generated my WES reference number. Need to send someone on behalf to the university to collect Transcript.

IELTS Current mock scores:
Reading : 7.5 to 8
Writing : 7
Speaking : 7
Listening : 8 to 8.5

IETLS Actual scores from IDP:
Test Date : 9 February 2019
Reading :5.5 !!!!!!!
Speaking :6.5
Writing :7
Listening : 8

Only if I had gone blind, I would score that low in Reading section.
Is IELTS, IDP a scam ??
Now I am totally frustrated with my Reading score, because that leaves me with no clue why it had gone that low. I do not understand the areas of improvement, and I am not sure if I have to reappear. My wife pushes me to reappear.

With Canada in stake, I see other opportunities like Australia,Germany and Sweden.

How did I come here?

I was laid back and not interested in switching jobs, and continued to work in Cognizant. I had plenty other friends with whom I had ample time to spend time with. One night, we all had a drink and a heated conversation broke into an ugly fight, we all departed from the spot without bidding adieu! Came back home and found myself having no proper physique and no career prospects.  Hated myself! Started looking for options after waking up from a bad dream around 2AM!!

Singapore!

Made my wife to join a job,I resigned my then job in Cognizant without any offer!

I had a short stint of working experience and handful of  people to connect in Singapore.

I went there before trying Canada/Australia, which I kept procrastinating for more than 3 years.

Long story short in a chronological order as this does not blend in with the current subject:

  • Did training on a technology that has plenty of opportunities in Singapore.
  • Secured 1 month visa( Did some mistakes here)
  • After failed attempt to find an accommodation in friends place, found a person who could let in for a month for Rent :Rs.15000 (300 SGD). Accommodation is costly in developed countries.
  • Did not a find job in that duration after making all possible moves.
  • Total expense Rs.100000, this could have been brought down to 50k.
  • Came back to India, found a new job in a months time!

Total time taken : 3 months (from the time I resigned till I found the next one)

Next? IELTS!!!

I did not have enough money immediately because I had to settle few things after my Singapore travel. But the fire in me kept burning 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.

Took some time to join the class. Meanwhile kept searching for good classes and kept my research opened on Immigration.

Some YouTubers I followed:

Dream Abroad

Canada Couple

In fact there are plenty of them, you can choose whom you find suitable. I went with the option of people who could put across their thoughts clearly in English.

Why does one need IELTS Training?

Burning billion dollar question.

Because IELTS contains of four parts testing your language ability. Though we have experiences and using English everyday in our lives, we should not forget that your language gets tested by a native English official speaker.

Exam requires you to follow a pattern.
There are plenty of nuances to understand to get an edge of CLB 8 and above.

Expense for the training class : Around 8k

Time Required : 2 months

On December 1st, once i got my salary message I called them up to join the class. Fortunately they just started a batch, everyone waiting for the salary?? 8k  is not a big money to delay this long.

What convinced me to join the class, the teachers indeed. If I had found some people scamming around with poor language and money making attitude, I would not have join.

I joined for a weekend batch.

Well, as the class started I went on with my first assessment and the scores were terrible as I expected like the ones below.

Reading : 5
Writing : 5.5
Listening : Did not happen on that day, I would have scored around 5
Speaking : 5

As I progressed, I started understanding the intricacies.

My current(December 25th, Happy Chrsitmas!! ) scores are:

Reading : 7.5
Writing : 6.5(Though the learning center will not give more than this)
Listening : 7.5
Speaking : 6.5 (Making self videos and working on mind map to improve my coherence)

With this score the CRS will be : 340 Long way to go!

Some tips so far!

Reading : Improve your reading by reading articles, books and actively improve your reading ability.

There are three parts :
Section1 - Hard; Section2 - Harder; Section3 - Hardest.
Try to finish section3 first in 20 minutes. Then jump to section1 and section2.
Possible to score maximum 9.

Writing :

Two tasks : Task1 - Mostly letter writing
Task2 - Essay writing.
Write as much as possible.
Do not wait for a topic, write things that comes to your mind.
Understand that you need to follow a pattern to achieve this. Research on the pattern that you need to follow.
Possible to score maximum 8.

Listening : Watch English videos, not the speeches, because they speak clearly and it is easy to understand. Watch the conversation type videos, where people talk about random topics.

Possible to score maximum 9.

Speaking : Here is the crux of whole test. They will take you one on one to estimate your speaking ability.

You need to keep talking everyday to people only in English, and people who speak better than you. There are apps in the market, that will help you to find a remote native speaker to improve your language.
Possible to score maximum7.5.

My reading and listening scores are approaching the well expected 8.

Though the CLB level will approach 9, will I really get enough mark to achieve the required CRS. That will be the next level of research.

Meanwhile, I have started progressing to get my degree certificate verified from WES

I am not sure if I will get a good score and that will help me to move abroad, but the love for English is blossomed.

I will keep writing till the quest answered for next few months.

Some recent goals after a storming TED talk:

Think B I G!!

B stands for Books (Planned to read atleast 10 books an year, currently with a book written by Napoleon Hill and Hippie written by Paulo Coelho)

I stands for Individuals(How many many Individuals you meet).

G stands for Goals (Do you have any goal in your life?)
